PM:Feeling the Heat of Global Warming

People, it is a sign for us to put extra care about our daily habit. Start to drink lots of plain water, minimize on doing outdoor activities that may let us facing dust, control  oil-taking in food, reduce caffeine-type-of-drink, and etc.

PUTRAJAYA: Climate changes and the global warming phenomena can no longer be viewed lightly as they have caused massive damage and loss of lives, says Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The Prime Minister said rainfall patterns had changed and Malaysia endured an extreme drought that resulted in a water crisis in several states early and in the middle of last year.
He said at the end of last year, a prolonged downpour caused massive damage to properties and lives were lost due to floods.
“The Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change report published in 2014 by the World Meteorological Organisation and the United Nations Environment Programme warn that the mitigation measures were insufficient to limit temperature increase at 2°C.
“This will cause serious natural disasters,” he said in his opening remarks before chairing the Green Technology and Climate Change Council meeting here yesterday.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili and Natural Resoures Minister Datuk Seri G. Palanivel also attended the meeting.
On the green technology sector in Malaysia, Najib said it could be the catalyst for sustainable green technology development, not only in terms of a balanced environment, but also socially.
He said green business, based on the platform of business as usual for the five key economic sectors, could contribute RM12.7bil to the country’s Gross Domestic Product in 2020 and RM27.9bil in 2030.
“If strong commitment is given beyond business as usual in increasing green business, it is expected that green business will contribute RM22.4bil to the GDP in 2020 and RM60bil in 2030,” he said.
The five key economic sectors, as outlined by the green technology master plan, are energy, transport, buildings, waste and water.

The Story of Ahmad and Mohammad

This story may not be so dramatic that attract the attention of thousands of us. But, please..think a bit in realizing the truth that happened and consequences of war around us. Forget about different religion and believe. But, within us, is there any sense of humanity?

Emcee: What has happened to your body? Can you share with us?
Ahmad:
I am 6 years old and I live in Syria. I was playing with my friends in Aleppo one day and suddenly there were explosives being dropped from above. We took cover and I passed out, only to realise that we were already at the hospital when we were awake. I wasn’t aware that I was hit by the bomb during the incident, but one thing I knew then was that my legs were already gone.
Emcee: Were your mother there with you?
Ahmad:
My mother was killed during the explosion, and my father was killed soon after he was informed that my hands are going to be amputated because the nerves in my hands were badly damaged. I am so grateful that I had the chance to take cover during the explosion, I might not be here if I didn’t do that. But deep in my heart I know Allah is always with me.
Emcee: Mohammad, are you a friend of Ahmad?
Mohammad:
I met Ahmad at the hospital. We were attended by Dr. Abd Rahman during that time. He is here at the conference as well and he was the one that introduced me to Ahmad.
Emcee: Can you share with us your story, Mohammad? What had you gone through?
Mohammad:
I remembered my uncle was calling me to have lunch with him. He went upstair to call me and next thing I knew our house was bombed. Our neighbours came to clear my wounds but I didn’t feel any pain or cry one tear, as I couldn’t feel my leg.
Emcee: Who were with you at the time?
Mohammad:
My mother, older brother, and grandmother were all killed during the attack. My grandfather suffered extensive leg damage, and my cousin underwent the same situation. My father survived and my other uncle came to the hospital after the attack. My father is here with me at the conference.
Mohammad’s Father:
I only went to the hospital after two days of the attack, and quite honestly I don’t know how to share what had happened. My wife was killed.
Mohammad & Ahmad:
I was hit by rockets and missiles, and many of my friends were hit too. And I want to share these with everyone (by attending the conference and share stories)

Additional note from one of the participant that personally know Mohammad:
I asked Mohammad, “are we going to deny God’s fate on what has happened, Mohammad?”
Mohammad: Of course not! We can never deny what God has destined for us. I remember when the specialist doctor who attended me asked me what I want, I told him “I want to fly and I will ask Him for legs.”. The doctor said, “this is the legs for you.” I replied, “no, this is not real legs.”
